Epidaurus

The Ancient Site of Epidaurus (Epidavros) – Daytrip

Another place of interest, only 150 km from Harmony Hotel Apartments, is the ancient site of Epidaurus.
Epidaurus was the most important religious and medical centre of ancient Greece.
It was founded by the city authorities in 4th century BC in an isolated valley (13 km off the coast) and was dedicated to Asclepius, the Greek god of medicine and son of Apollo.
The most interesting structure is the theatre, the best preserved of all classic Greek theatres, which was not altered by the Romans in any way.
The theatre of Epidaurus seats 14,000 and is known for its acoustics and it is still used for various performances during the summer.
