The seaside resort of Longos/Selianitika in Aigialia
The villages of Longos and Selianitika of the township of Sympolitia are
situated near a beach bay in the northeast of the district of Achaia. The area
around Longos and Selianitika is outstanding with its picturesque beach bay,
popular even by the locals, and the green olive groves and citrus fruit
plantations. On the beach as well as in the villages there are cosy taverns with
excellent Greek and international cooking. Moreover, there are numerous lovely
cafes, an open air cinema and many good shops. The port of Aigion (Egion) is
situated in a distance of 8 km to the east of Longos. Buses of the Greek
transport system KTEL are operating regularly to Aigion, just as the
ferryboat connecting Aigion with Aghios Nikolaos (continent). Patras, the
third seaport of Greece, well connected with Italy by ferryboat (Venice, Ancona,
Brindisi, Bari) is about 30 km distant. The longest suspension bridge of Europe
(Charilaos Trikoupis) connecting the Peloponnese with the opposite mainland is
in about 25 km. The airport of Araxos lies in a distance of about 75
km.
